AJ's buddy Tony and his friend Matt came out with his yamahopper that had been cutting out while he was riding. Popped the carb open and you couldnt see through the jet. Cleaned it out and runs like a champ now. If only it were always so easy.

I dont remember if AJ had posted this or not, but as you may know garelli made a different version of the NOI for the Katia. This engine is basically the same as a regular NOI except is sightly smaller/thinner. Some of the parts are interchangeable, but most are not. One of the parts that can be swapped including, you guessed it, the main gear. The Katia main gear is nearly half as thin as the regular NOI gear. All the benefits of a lightened main gear without using a lathe on yer old one.

Malossi piston lookin soooooooo good still. Full synthetic oil is the best. I have been running this (awesome and super rare) kit for almost 2 years now and it looks as good as ever. RAD

stock variator mod. this brass lip prevents the belt from going all the way up the ramp plate so i grinded it off. i can tell the difference a little bit but had no time to celebrate because the headlight quit working and whoever ran this before me did some soldering and breaking of the headlight assembly. dammit.

well a lot has happened since the last time one of us chumps posted something on here. been real busy shredding mopeds nearly everyday. none of us have a working computer or a decent camera anymore to actually make posts worth a darn.

Derek bought my black ciao frame, and i bought a stock fully rigged ciao with the money.

i bought a grande rear wheel and variator from a couple a mile away for 20 bucks 2 days later and tossed that on there. it has great lowed but its still only going 21mph.

i also picked up a pair of pit bike forks and found a pit bike disk rotor that would mount to a 17" garelli rear snowflake. and tossed them on the white ciao, i had to cut the headtube on my frame and drill out the steer tube on the tripple tree in order to get them to work, but it was worth it.the whole cost me about $235 total. if you're interested let me know and i'll try and get you links to everything. maybe i'll make a post about it later...anyway so much stop!

Im running my taillights on a 12v lawn mower battery now and they last a good 8 hrs of constant use before needing a recharge. pretty dialed.

Finally got this gem running today!

the thing is awesome. so much torque! i love rigids!!! after giving this bike away last fall, it finally runs.

i recently moved into a new place, and im now living with jesse. and we have been puttting in alot of work trying to get the garage in decent shape, and its really been coming along. we have TONS of 2 wheeled things its nuts.

so i bought Brandons extra "ready" ciao frame and some totally sizzlin si mags off him and im building a malossi ciao. i ordered an engine from ebay italy (thanks Brad) and it should be here in a few days. ( i hope that link worked, if not the engine is used and looks jank, but we will see when it gets here) its going to be an expensive month, but i hope to get a camera so i can actually take some picture and do a proper post. im super excited to build something variated, its gonna be gnarly.

It's been awhile since my last post, been real busy and i the only camera i have right now is my cell phone so i haven;t really been documenting the things we have been up to recently, but alot is going on.

When I was at WB3 i picked up this this ciao frame from Jason W

i am making another ciao basically the same thing as my white ciao just better.

before

i bought a nice piece of steel tubing this time around for the cross brace instead of just using a fence post i found laying around, i didn;t realize how cheap steal actually is.

i also ordered a set of pit bike forks, and they showed up the other day, and mounted up with little work. i was a little nervous they wouldn't work but it all worked out

now the ciao is fully painted and forks are mounted, just waiting for a 12 mm sealed axle and a disk rotor, hoping that stuff comes fast i can not wait to get this thing rolling

I am now the very proud owner of a 1995 Ford Aerostar. I christened it this afternoon with Johnny Cash's The Baron cassette, the light of a cig and the crack of a Mt. Wooo!!

It only has 111,000 miles , and the undercarriage is rust freeee!

It needs new ball joints, tie rods, sway arm links and tires.

Other then those things its pretty dialed.

Garelli leaves my garage tomorrow. sad.

Haven;t been posting as much because i just got dat full time job, and have mostly been helping other people with there bikes.

Like my buddy Paul's PA50/general/magnum

before

He bought the moped from a buddy of his who welded in the top tank and mounted the seat but paul wasn;t 100% happy with the tank and seat set up.

so we lowered the back of the top tube and bent the rear end of his frame down about a half inch

i am not sure if you are able to tell the difference in the before and after photos but the difference is there. seat is still alittle high, but we;ve got more work to do

in ciao news i just got these treats!!

malossi gears, new clutch arms, and the Rufus clutch springs.

I got everything installed thursday night but its been raining/ i have been workin like a dog and haven't had time to do more than take little drags across my garage. the sucker revs out super fucking high, we'll see.

So now that it got over 30* and there is some open road I am all hyped on nice weather. I figured I should get a bunch of stuff I have been putting off done. First off, finally get this kill switch fully operational. Works like a charm, and I feel it's in a pretty good location. My domino kill switch flew apart in a parking lot on the last day I rode it last fall. Bummars. I think I like this setup better, though. I also put new grips on my BMX bike, I will have flanges now. Weird.

Also, while relaxing listening to some Mayhem and Gorgoroth (why did nobody ever tell me about black metal!?) I noticed that it may be a good idea to get a couple of washers and a wing nut, I can fasten my treats plug tool under my tank so I don't need to put it on my key chain.

Today I finished the wiring on the ciao. I have always hated wiring, and I still do. It's like that weird annoying kid that you hate being around, but one day you realize why that person is the way they are and they are suddenly not so bad... anyway the more I understand the more I don't mind it so much but still not a fan.

The grey and orange box on the right is a regulator-rectifier (R-R) from an old snowmobile, regulates the voltage and switches the current from AC to DC. I decided to go with one of these so could run an LED Taillight and not worry about blowing it out.

The problem with the R-R was I wanted to have working brake lights, and there was only one wire coming out of it. I called a buddy of mine who works on car electrical systems and he told me that i needed a relay and that's what the black box to left of the R-R is, it's from an automatic car starter my dad had laying around. Thanks dad! Works beautifully.

After getting the tail light working I wired up my kill switch. It nearly fit perfectly inside my fork/headset top nut. i took a minute sanded down the edges and she slid right into place.

IT LIGHTS UP!

As you can probably tell, and its very bright. Not really sure if I'm going to keep it illuminated or disconnect it, seems like it may get annoying but right now I'm psyched on it.

Also has all new cables, new polini variator plate because the one I had was allll bent, painted my pipe black, made a license plate bracket and tossed on some M bars but I'm not to sure how I feel about them yet.

All that is really left to do is fix my forks and tune everything.

Eventually I'm going to add another tail light, powder coat the forks wheels and pipe and have the frame professionally painted but not anytime soon.

Derek if you're reading this, I want to see some photos of you and baby G spending quality time together.

The other day i broke my exhaust flange off of my polini kit...
How? You may ask?
It's because I'm a dumb ass.

I didn't have the back end of the pipe supported correctly so shit broke and my pipe lay there on the ground.

To calm my self, I sat down and smoked a cig and then quickly brought my cylinder to Bill Bune Enterprises to fix me up, and they did!

I picked it up this afternoon and here she is now, back to life.

They welded it up and filed down the welds for 10 dollars!

I am super happy with it.

So if you live in Minnesota and need something done that you can't do yourself check out their web page, they can re sleeve,bore,re nikasil, port, millheads, weld...

Check my facebook for all the photos im only putting a few on the blog. I got to ride the other week with Jake to get tacos in search of bike tubes. This mild winter is spoiling me it hardly gets below 20 degrees and I still find myself bitching.

There are some radical spots. Nate got some tricks on the quarter so did I. There are more pictures i have been good about documenting all the spots.

Sorry it just starting underlining my shit. Here are some pictures of the Garelli. Grinded off all the tabs and the fork lock, found a place for my switch, and made a new exhaust bracket. I got a hair cut too. Real short.

I got it all together last night with the help of jesse and brad, and took it for a wild ride at 11:30pm in the slushy minnesota streets.So much fun.

i am excited to say i have been doing work on my garelli sslx. It is completely torn down and in the middle of being sand blasted. I am grinding the frame and am trying to make panels to weld where the seat mount is for added strength. If i can get the damn panels to work out i want to dremel buffalos into them! When i am done it will be primed with car paint primer and then i need to decide on a color scheme. The paint on the 5 stars wont come off worth a damn. Sand blasting them wont even take it off. I am going to try airplane stripper. Ill let yall know how that works. The regular paint stripper is not cutting it.

I chopped my rear fender and bought awesome footpegs off a member of tbs. There flat and foldable. Needed some where to put my feet on the kickstart.

I am attempting to sew my seat cover sometime this week. I have a template ready out of shopping bags, but it will be my first time sewing anything like this so hopefully it turns out.

I also got a chance to attack cincinnati on my snowboard. Thanks Brian for the photo.

So my Ciao has been coming along pretty nicely. I have just about every part lined up or in my hands, which is rad. It's crazy to me how much money I have spent on this bike and I could easily spend more. Fucking mopeds i tell ya. I'm still waiting on a new front wheel, headlight, variator, engine, pipe and a carb. but i should have all that by mid january thanks to brad! all i need now is a belt and a tail light. hurrrrrayyyyyy

anyway i thought i would post some photos of my progress so farrrr.

a few people have told me i should cut the forks but i think im going to leave them the way they are until i actually ride the bike.

So a few weeks ago this French dude named Olivier posted on the MA general forum. He said he was a writer for a French Bmx magazine called Cream.

He wanted to do an article on moped gangs and asked if people would send photos. I shot him an email told him the Bad dudes rode bmx and were into mopeds, and that I was psyched! so yeah I sent him some photos and i must have been the only one to do so cuz heck! he printed um!

and here is the article he wrote, the dude is french so his english isn't that great, but neither is mine

I got a little lucky with the soft seize.

It pinched the ring and i was sanding in the rings grove with plain ol sand paper to smooth out that tight spot to let the ring float again and then the dang ol chunk just fell off.

I found out that the areo bar mounts for a road bike will fit on as clip ons. whats that??? 22.2 bar clamp. so rad it hurts.

Last week I picked up a trashed Ciao frame a cracked rear Grande mag . I bought the frame to hack apart and use parts to weld to my frame...Simonini dreams.

So after thanksgiving dinner I brought both frames to my dads shop to finish up welding my frame and to cut apart the other.

As I was cutting apart the tank I decided to hack apart the rear end and make a sick fender.

After I got everything cut apart and removed most of the rust

I went onto welding...

Ciao was much happier with my welds this time around...

and the lovely couple...

Then a light bulb went off and I decided i was going to try and fix the crack in mag

so i took an old fender and cut about a 6" strip out of the side

I put er between the tire and wall of the rim and took hammer & punch and bent it to match the curve of the wheel

After that I went and built this deck

and then came home and gave Ciao a hug and went back to work on the wheel...

I filled the crack in with JB weld.. It is not pretty but I'm thinking it will work.

My blue rally sport was my first moped. I have not been able to get rid of it. Its gone to a lot of rally's. It has changed alot and had 4 different Noi's on it. Derek used to call it the Bruiser.

So I put it all on and took it for a spin.

seems to work awesome!

got to 42 (A.k.a topped the speedo out) in my ally. speed tears did happen. bummed i had to stop.

its jetted way rich right now but i'll fix that soon. still ripped even thought it was/is jetted wrong.

I'm now waiting for a puller to come from treats so I can put my new murdered out case back together. siked to the max!

Took the parts to the bike shop I worked at to finish the lil block up.

it looks like it'll fit on just fine without cuting into the inside of it.

drilled the holes and put it on. dremeled the holes so it would end up going on.

seems to work out a-ok so far.

got the case halfs in a parts washer to try to clean em up. helped a little.

off to buy some stuff to get the carb on.

so i I don't know how to get the pictures right and I want to make my polini faster.

step one... match that case.

step two. make it a four pedal reed block.

I have a few pics of the crap i did today.

I matched the case a week or so ago and added the bost port on to the top of the case. ran fine with out it so it should help it rip now.

I wanted to add the 4 pedal reed block with out cutting fins off a polini, riser block!

I had nothing that I thought would work until... I looked at this old broken up stock e50 cylinder and started to line things up.

went for it.

smashed the fins off so i didnt have to cut that much more off with a hack saw.

cut it with extra room on the sides.

looks like it'll work just fine. just enough over the fin even with out gaskets on.

used a bench sander to make sure the lil chunk was flat and would seal up on both ends.

Now i just have to bust out my dremel and shave it into a nice square ish shape. the cylinder has just a little bigger hole then the rest of the intake but i think it should still work. if it doesn't then I make a new on.

Also the 2 pedal reed is not going on this but it did get into the project pic. Don't worry aj I'm not trying to make a 6 pedal reed monster. maybe next summer. hmm .3 .35 .4 ???

So in the last few days i have pick up 3 new mopeds, Puch Maxi N, a FreeSpirit and a Columbia commuter ...might pick up 1 or 2 more in the next few days. I know, I know these are not Garelli's or even close but oh well I have a freaking problem.

My plan was to buy this freespirit get it running and sell it, but man is this thing awesome.

Man I love it!

This is a beautiful maxi N! The pedal spindle was very bent so it got cut.

It breaks my moped loving heart a little bit but this moped is going to my oldest friend Paul & his new wife Lisbeth.I hope you like it!

Now go ride off into the sunset you crazy kids!

Ps. the Columbia Commuter is beat. You want it? It has potential....? Come get it.

The boss pipe has been installed. We chopped up an old garelli header, matched it up to a boss pipe. It really works pretty well. It definitely gives me more power than when I had the bi turbo on there.

So for the past few days i have put my Garelli aside and have been working on my Ciao. All I can think about is making the Ciao awesome. So saturday I finished fabricating the top tube and welded it in.

It turned out alright seeing as how this was the first time i have ever welded anything. I figured i've seen my dad weld plenty of times it can't be that hard... well it is.

I add a "gusset" to the top tube where it butts up with the head tube to give it a bmx look . haha I'm pretty hyped on it..

So just about 6 weeks ago I got my face smashed in and broke my jaw. I've been eating blended soup and ice cream smoothies since then but today!! oh what a beautiful lovely day.... I get unwired, let loose, and set free to dominate a big fucking cheese burger and a beer.

here are a few things to look forward too along with not eating solids if you ever end up breaking your jaw.

1. Not being able to lick your lips.- It drives me nuts. Holy hell, try not to lip your lips for a day. It can't be done. I would watch my friends lick their lips and wish they would lick mine for me some times. A few actually offered; I have good friends.

2. Screaming - do the classic "hit your self in the thumb with a hammer" , or the not so classic" spill your freshly made banana,strawberry, avocado, ice cream smoothie all over the fucking place" and try to scream. You will sound way too much like Sloth and hurt your face.

3. Yawning - IT HURTS!!

A lot of good things have happened to me since this has happen though so it's been kind of a blessing.

I've had a lot of moped time and been hanging out with Jesse bad dude/good dude aka Spock

Garelli Update

Updated pictures of my SSXL with the sealed back wheel, which is working awesome.
I have my polini ( not case matched yet, i just want to break it in before it snows) 20mm carb, and bi turbo (thanks for letting me borrow this jesse!). My treats package with a boss pipe is out for delivery! BoOp.

Dear Aj,

You told me to go take pictures so I did. Now I am posting them.

I removed the HT coil, made an "S" bracket, drilled some holes and mounted it to the top rear motor mounting bolt, with the foot panel on it, it hides the coil, also i took my fenders off after Gnarelli gave me a hard time about my bike not looking bad enough, well there ya go buddy!

Note For Sealed Bearing Conversion

The sealed bearing conversion that mack so delisiouly posted use's bearings that are only for the 17" Grimeca Back Wheel. The 17" front wheel uses a different bearing size. The front wheel is the same bearing size as 16" Grimeca's found on tomos and minarellis, which fit garellis. I will be converting a pair of 16" Tomos five stars to sealed bearings. I have the bearings at home and will post the size.

For all garelli dudes that have mags. Its important to check your loose bearing cups. I have seen a couple noi case's that have been damaged from what seems to be a failure from the loose bearing cups cracking and eventually throwing the chain. With little room, especially with an 11 tooth sprocket on the front, the chain bunches and cracks the area above the sprocket.

Mack didn't convert his front wheel to sealed because its running smoothly. The back however was wrecked, hence why he got a bangin deal. $60 dollar ltd. BANGING

Another note. Brandon and Jesse were down this weekend. I noticed that Brandon despite being geared for low end had the same take off to about 25mph as i did. The only difference in set ups is our pipes. Brandon is running the EV Turbo and geared 42-10. I was running a leo vinci circuit pipe and geared 32-10.

******ALL BAD DUDES POST YOUR SET UP, WITH PICTURES PERFERABLY. Break down your gearing, what clutch rubber, what your running for fluids, carb, pipe, kit, etc. Give top end and low end feel. Between all of us and the different kits this should get elaborate and help other people set up their bikes.

Ill run my bike with the 4 pipes i have in my garage and report how each one performed. I will also post pictures of the Garelli NOI Parma mystery kit I got off Ebay Italy. After looking closely and comparing it seems to be exactly the same as the polini kit only slightly larger ports and the piston only has one ring.

Well the other day my old buddy Droo decided to pick up an LTD SSXL from a really nice guy named Michael in mpls ( thanks Michael!) and got a great deal. The Cylinder and piston were pretty bad but a dremel and sand paper got it going good enough. This is what it looked like when we unloaded er from the car.

Droo had to work early the next morning so he left and I spent the rest of the night going through just about everything on the thing. Most of the bike was in good shape just a lot of cleaning and little shit. Although the clutch did have type F tranny fluid instead of SAE 30 but we just soaked the clutch in mineral spirits and she was ready. That was the only real headache.

Eventually got it running and I took it for a little cruise in the rain and the speedo was buried at 35. Completely stock with a messed up cylinder and piston?? maybe the speedo is off alot....

I'm far too hyped on the Garelli action that is going on lately.

Droo is happy.
